Black-backed Woodpeckers can often be found in recent burns. We watched this one yesterday as it pulled out white wood-boring beetle larvae from a recently burnt tree. You can see the different sized larvae in its bill in the pictures below. She worked one area for quite some time before being able to pull out these larvae.
