California Quail in Kamloops

California Quail are common in the south, central, and north Okanagan and the south tip of Vancouver Island. In recent years they have started to be reported in the central east part of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. The sightings seem to be around the Monte Lake area but there have also been some recent sightings along the South Thompson River between the Lafarge Exit and Monte Creek (Vernon turnoff). The sightings are of groups and familes, not singles. Does this mean they are moving this way? Are there just more birders in the area now? Time will tell.
