I received an email today that an Arctic Tern had been found on the south end of Shumway Lake just outside of Kamloops and was still there several hours later. Once home from work, I called Mary and we headed out to see if it was still there. We heard that local Kamloops bird guru Rick Howie was on his way as well. Once at the site we found the bird flying around in front of Rick. The three of us enjoyed it for around 30 minutes and were able to get some photos. On the way back, Mary and I stopped at Separation lake where it seems something is always happening. Sure enough, 6 Wilson’s Phalaropes were on the back pond and another Peregrine for the night was seen. A very cooperative Virginia Rail called from the wet grass area near the lake shore.
