6 Mile (Pat) Lake is usually one of the first lakes to become ice free each year because of its low elevation. After receiving the news the ice had come off several days previous, I was able to get there early on April 6 and late on April 7. It was my first time at this lake which is only 20 minutes from my house. This shows how spoiled for choice we are in Kamloops for good fly fishing lakes! Despite high wind and periods of downpours, a good time was had. I kept one 1 on April 6 and 2 on April 7. Blackwater Rainbow trout in the middle flanked by the usual Pennask (Kamloops Trout).
