Pioneer Park Pacific Loon Chase Oct. 24, 2020

I had been alerted to a Pacific Loon (scarce bird in this area) several days ago and Isaac and I dipped on it early Friday before work. After hearing it was seen later Friday and a pair on Saturday morning, he, Tristan, and I headed to the area. We covered the area where it had been seen thoroughly before heading back in the direction of our vehicle. We decided to have one last look a bit downstream and risk our fingers freezing more. Then Isaac suddenly spotted both of them coming upstream. They were diving and swimming a long ways under water making tracking them a bit difficult. We followed them along the bank for 100 meters or so and then retreated to our warm vehicle. Air temp was around -5 but the wind along the river bank was making it feel much colder.
