A Monarch Butterfly in Kamloops, BC Oct. 3, 2022

A Monarch Butterfly was found and photographed in the Kamloops area Oct. 3, 2022. This is a first for me and a rare sighting for the region. Monarchs are amazing creatures that breed their way north and then the 4rth of 5th generations fly south where most winter within close proximity of each other in Mexico. This one was seen at over 1000m in elevation and landed on a Douglas Fir tree to have a rest. They are bigger than I had imagined, having seen them in books and documentaries.
